BABYMETAL has held solo live named “I, D, Z: LEGEND “D” SU-METAL Birthday” at Akasaka BLITZ on December 20. They started the live with their introducing song “BABYMETAL DEATH” which never failed to excite the audience. The tickets for the live had been sold out soon after the release. The venue was filled with the audience even in the far end of the 2nd floor. The audience grooved to the sound like one big creature itself.
They shouted “Everyone, here we go!” and continued with “Kimi to Anime ga Mitai〜Answer for Animation With You” and “Uki Uki★Midnight”. They gave the audience no time to breath.
SU-METAL was born in 1997 when rock bands were most popular in Japan. The screen showed what happened in the year with the photos of SU-METAL in those days. Then they covered “White Love” by SPEED which was a huge hit in the times SU-METAL was born. The song had been arranged as “Angel Of Death ver.” The audience was surprised to hear the first chorus of the unexpected cover song and cheered.
There was more surprise on the special night when she turned 15. YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL covered “Over The Future” by Karen Girl’s, a group SU-METAL had belonged when she was a child. SU-METAL joined them from the second chorus and showed a stage where she looked back her history.
When they performed “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!” which sounded like a new song with the electric arrangement, SISTERBONE joined them as a back dancer. She added the excitement to the stage with the back band of skeleton men.
YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL turned into small devils and attracted the audience with the rap metal song “Onedari Daisakusen”. Then they accelerated the live with “Doki Doki☆Morning” and “Iine!” without intervals. The last song was “Ijime, Dame, Zettai” which will be released as a major label debut song on January 9, 2013. In the fighting scene between the choruses, MOAMETAL showed more acrobatic performance like kicking with both feet. They had performed songs in a great speed and answered the calls for encore with little time to rest.
They performed “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!” in the normal version. Their dance moves had been arranged to the more powerful, elastic ones. They seemed to be expressing emotions not only with the dance moves but with their faces in this live. They showed cool and sad faces in “Ijime, Dame, Zettai” on the other hand they showed full smiles when performing “Iine!”
The last song was the cover of classis song “Tsubasa wo Kudasai –Fire-“, which was a surprising choice for them. SU-METAL’s clear and vibrating voice seemed to purify the place. She slowly climbed up the stairways set on the stage and spread her hands up to the huge cross placed on the back of the stage. At the moment 4 pillars of fire blew up on stage. The stage was closed when the white cloth fell on them as though covering the stage.
They scarcely talked to the audience as usual except when they shouted “We are!” to which the audience answered “BABYMETAL!” Their stage always comes to an end too abruptly when the god who has descended on the stage leaves.
The schedule of the next solo live was announced to the audience, who had just come back to the real world from the world of the “Tale of the Resurrection”. The next stage “I, D, Z, :LEGEND “Z”” will be held on February 1, 2013 at Zepp Tokyo. What kind of story are they going to unfold at their first solo live after the major label debut? Watch out not to miss the huge wave of BABYMETAL.
